The FineDay founder David Watkinson has donated crew gifts and other memorabilia from his 43-year Hollywood career to help fund The FineDay Academy.
As the collection is organized, he will share completed video memories, anecdotes and memorabilia in the list below in white text on this blue background to separate from the shows not yet processed.
David’s career working on movies is divided into 4 phases: WRITING (1980 to Present), PRODUCTION (1979 to 1985 ), NEW MEDIA (1985 to 1993), FEATURED ON-SET PLAYBACK (1993 to 2004). David then switched in 2005 to TV on-set playback for shows like Bones, Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville, etc.)

MEMORY: I helped created all the screens for NASA Mission Control (“Houston we have a problem”) but my boss forgot to submit my name for the credits. Nevertheless, it was good practice for when I was responsible for creating all the modern day mission control screens for Clint Eastwood’s Space Cowboys which was a great shoot with some very interesting memories.

MEMORY: My technical advisor on Space Cowboys was Astrounaut Robert Cabana who piloted the space shuttle on four missions, trained Russian cosmonauts and went on to become director of the Kennedy Space Center.
His official title was Chief Astronaut when he was assigned to work with me. While helping me get the orbital mechanics correct for all the screens in the space ships, we had interesting chats.
Robert told me about a funny incident when a petite female astronaut got stuck floating in a connecting tunnel on the shuttle because her arms and legs were too short to reach the sides of the tunnel to push off. Years later I remembered that incident when someone (I think it was Elena Danaan) said that a type of Reptilian alien has short wings to avoid getting stuck floating if caught in a low gravity situation.
Of course, I asked Robert (who flew for both the Marines and the Navy) if he’d seen any aliens and he said his colleague in the Marines said he spent about 20 minutes chasing some.
Robert also said that I should talk to astronaut Story Musgrave who is a big believer in aliens. If you’re interested in them you might want to check out a paper about Aliens in the Courses section of the FineDay Academy.
