Greek Sword

While deployed on the flagship USS MacDonough in 1967, I bought this small sword on liberty in Athens. I can’t imagine I paid a lot for it as a young Midshipman.

The engraving says 1821 on the blade, so I think it was just a tourist souvenir commemorating the 1821 Greek revolt against the Ottoman Empire, which had ruled most of Greece for nearly 400 years.
